“Every next level of your life will demand a different you.” Leonardo diCaprio
That quote came across my inbox this week, and it made me stop and think about an interaction I had with a close friend this weekend. I don’t doubt her desire to reach a higher state of vibration, but her actions keep holding her back. By allowing fear and insecurity to creep into her mind she holds herself back and continues to make the same negative choices. She gets in her own way by looking to the past to predict the future and then creating an issue that becomes overwhelming to her, as well as those she loves and wants to support.
I compare it to creating an avalanche. She starts with a small snowball (problem) that she plays around with for a minute weighing out what she believes the universe is presenting. She allows past trauma to create negative energy that she then uses to toss, what she thinks is innocently, it into the air. But as this tiny snowball lands, the negativity at its core has enough inertia to kick off its downhill roll. And by the time it reaches the community she’s built in the valley of love, it has started an avalanche that covers everything in its path with negativity.
This trajectory of negativity could have been thwarted if she had just allowed herself to dwell in this place of discomfort for a while and ask herself how she can learn from it.
When striving to reach new levels, we must act from a place of discomfort. If we allow ourselves to look at an issue from outside of our mind and reach into our feelings using the knowledge of what is occurring in the here and now, we will find infinite possibilities unfold.
Being uncomfortable and not reacting, allows you to reset the brain and stops you from reacting emotionally but still from the heart. Sit with the uncomfortable feeling. Truly feel it and understand that the reason for your discomfort is based caused on your perception of what’s happening and not reality. Working through uncomfortable times in this way will allow you to reach another level of growth and thereby raise your vibration. And by delaying your reaction, you’ll be able to avoid the negativity avalanche—saving yourself and the rest of your community, too.
